How to Play GridSmash
GridSmash is a strategic block placement puzzle played on a 10Γ10 grid. Each turn you receive three block pieces of varying shapes and sizes. Drag and drop each piece onto the grid to place it β all three must be placed before you receive new ones. Block Rotation: You can rotate any piece before or during placement! On desktop, right-click while dragging a piece to rotate it 90Β° clockwise. On mobile, simply tap a piece in the dock (without dragging) to rotate it. When you completely fill a row or column, it clears from the board and earns you points. Clear multiple lines simultaneously for combo bonuses. Starting from turn 10, special blocks may appear. Crystal blocks (π) grant +200 points when part of a cleared line. Ice blocks (π§) require 2 line clears to remove. Wild blocks (β) are golden cells you can place anywhere. Every 10 turns, the Shatter Zone activates on the bottom 2 rows for 3 turns β clear lines there for triple points!
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the different block shapes in GridSmash?
GridSmash features 20 unique block shapes ranging from 1 to 5 cells. These include dots, lines, L-shapes, T-shapes, squares, plus signs, and more. Each turn you get 3 random pieces in different pastel colors.
How do special blocks work?
From turn 10 onward, special blocks may appear with each set of pieces. Crystal (π) has a 15% chance and clears a 3Γ3 area when part of a cleared line (+200 pts). Ice (π§) has a 10% chance and requires 2 line clears to remove. Wild (β) has a 5% chance and can be placed anywhere, even on occupied cells.
What is the Shatter Zone?
Every 10 turns, the bottom 2 rows become a golden Shatter Zone for 3 turns. Any line clears in these rows score 3Γ points. If the Zone expires without being cleared, 3 random cells fill with blocks as a penalty.
How is the score calculated?
You earn 10 points per cell placed, 100 per line cleared (Γlines simultaneously), and combo streak multipliers (Γ1, Γ1.5, Γ2, Γ3, Γ5). Crystal block explosions give +200 points. Shatter Zone clears get 3Γ bonus. Perfect clears (empty board) earn +5,000 bonus!
